Course Description

Cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause for death in India, accounting for 28.1% of all deaths (India: Health of the Nation’s States report, 2016).  Most of these conditions present first to the emergency department, and in many instances, there is only a narrow time window of opportunity (golden hour) to save lives. It is therefore essential for medical practitioners to have thorough and evidence-based knowledge required to manage these important cardiac emergencies effectively. The Certificate in Cardiac Emergencies course has been developed to provide the student with practical knowledge and tips on handling these emergencies.

The course curriculum will cover a wide range of cardiovascular emergencies that present to the emergency department including acute coronary syndromes, stroke, and cardiac arrhythmias. You will also learn the fundamentals of ECG interpretation in various cardiac emergencies. There will be teaching materials on these topics that describe evidence-based management of these topics. In addition, you will also get practical management tips through expert videos. The course is relevant to all doctors and interns and it will immensely benefit those planning to work in the emergency department, internal medicine, cardiology, and critical care.
