Course Description
India has the second-highest number of children with diabetes in the world after the United States. Most children with type 1 diabetes are not diagnosed on time as the awareness level about the condition is not as high as it should be. The Certificate in Pediatric Diabetes course aims to generate awareness about diabetes in children and adolescents. There are some unique challenges underlying the management of the condition in the pediatric population. The needs of pediatric patients with diabetes differ from those of adults. Challenges include growth and development, and care outside of the home, such as in the school setting. In addition, in type 2 diabetes, there are fewer treatment options for pediatric patients.
You will learn about the role of genetics and other factors in the pathogenesis of diabetes in children. The course will also cover various clinical presentations of type-1 and type-2 diabetes in children. In addition, the course will deal with evidence-based management of diabetes and its complications in the pediatric age group. The course will also provide the knowledge and skills required to provide diabetes self-management education to children and their parents or caregivers.
