Course Description

Stroke is one of the important causes of mortality and disability in India. Statistical data reveals that the incidence of stroke in low- and middle-income countries including India has increased by more than 100% between 1970 to 2008. Early treatment of stroke can limit brain damage and greatly improve outcomes. Successful treatment in patients with ischemic stroke depends on the ability to treat within three hours of onset. In many instances, stroke cases present to the primary care physician/general practitioners. The objective of this course is to enable general practitioners to formulate triage systems that minimize the time from the acute stroke event to transfer to a facility with the capacity to deliver thrombolysis.

The Certificate in Stroke Management  is a web-based course that aims to provide the students with specialized knowledge required to manage stroke cases. The course content is based on the latest stroke management guidelines, contextualized to the Indian settings by Neurology experts. It provides training on the clinical features, diagnosis and management of ischemic, hemorrhagic stroke and complications of stroke. There is a mix of reading materials and expert talk videos. The course is relevant for primary care physicians, emergency physicians, and residents working in wards and intensive care. This course is certified by Medvarsity.

Hands-on simulation workshop on Basic Life Support(BLS): Participating and on completion of this AHA certified course would allow you to provide “Basic Life Support” along with prioritizing chest compressions and provide effective initial care.

  • I am an MBBS/BAMS/BUMS/BHMS student. Will this course benefit me?
    • You will definitely benefit from this course. While doing your medical course, you will learn about ECG in physiology and under many internal medicine topics in your third and final year.   • What is the total duration of the course?
    • You are given 3 months duration to complete it. However, if you spend enough time on the learning materials and clear the assessments, you can finish the course at a faster rate and get the certification.
  • Physicians, Interns and final year medical students (all streams)
  • Hands-on training means training in an environment that permits each student to have experience performing tasks, making decisions, or using equipment appropriate to the job assignment for which the training is being conducted. The student assigned for these programs will be observing all procedures performed by the consultant and depending on the student’s abilities and skill set displayed at the hospital, he/she will get to assist the consultant.

  • What If I am unable to open/access the course?
  • How will the assessments be for course?
    • All assessments will be based on online tests.
  • What if I am not able to clear the final test in each level in the first attempt?

  • What if I feel that a question is wrongly framed or an answer is wrongly marked in the online exams?
