Course Description
The Fellowship in Internal Medicine is a online course followed by a 4 weeks clinical rotation in internal medicine in the United States and is designed by eminent internal medicine specialists for doctors who are interested in treating multiple systemic diseases.
The increased onset of chronic illnesses and commodities such as hypertension, heart failure, osteoarthritis, diabetes, lung, and renal diseases has brought an individual’s comprehensive health into focus. Internal medicine as a specialty focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adults across the broad spectrum from health to complex illness. In this era of specialization, patients are forced to visit multiple specialists for proper medical treatment. At times, such patients fail to obtain optimal treatment, eventually leading to a deterioration of their overall health. An internal medicine specialist can treat diseases comprehensively with their knowledge of pathology of multiple systems.
The Internal Medicine Course incorporates live virtual classes, case studies, and expert talks to give a clinical perspective to theory. Learning complex medical concepts in the traditional didactic textbook and lecture format can be alienating for students. It prevents the opportunity to apply this knowledge clinically. Fellowship in Internal Medicine incorporates a Case-Based Learning Approach within the Medvarsity Learning Framework to address this gap in medical education. Additionally, we’ve partnered with McGraw Hill to ensure that the students are exposed to relevant and credible content with the latest advances in the course specialty through a variety of case studies, books, videos, and other learning materials.
The 4-week rotation in the US familiarizes an International Medical Graduate (Indian Medical Students/ Doctors) to the practice of medicine in an American clinical setting, and provides international students an introduction to American Medicine as they will experience it in a hospital-based residency program.
This Internal medicine Program benefits medical students/doctors applying to residency programs in the United States, providing excellent clinical experience and an overview of the US healthcare system. Accepted students are encouraged to explore their areas of interest in ongoing research and initiatives through recent publications or specific projects. Both the doctor and the student collaborate to pursue suitable research projects tailored especially to individual interests during the program.
At the end of each rotation, the supervising physician will provide you with feedback based on a standardized American Medical Association (AMA) clinical evaluation format. A complimentary review and critique of your resume and personal statement, including tips and suggestions for improvements, will be provided. Based on the performance your preceptor will write you a letter to support your goal of achieving a residency.
