Patient safety mainly focuses on the reduction and mitigation of unsafe acts within the healthcare system using best practices which ultimately help lead to optimal patient outcomes. A hospital is a complex environment where errors can injure or kill. It is important to measure patient safety initiatives and adverse events while monitoring the progress of the strategies and while tracking success. Overall, patient safety, helps flag issues and helps identify potential areas for improvement.
